425 of the 501 rail cars owned by Ar-Gu are suitable for transporting containers. The advantage of shipping containers is that the cargo inside is protected from external weather conditions and any risk of damage which can occur due to handling.
256 x RGS-Type Rail Cars
RGS-Type rail cars are used to transport freight that is not affected by weather conditions, such as extended-length cargo, steel rolls, steel ingots, timber and oil and gasoline equipment. These rail cars can handle 10', 20', 30' and 40' containers.

Except for the automatic couplings utilized in the extra assembly of rail car chassis, the cars are manufactured from welded metal and durable wood with a flat floor. There are 16 swivel brackets, 8 on either side of each rail car. These 165 cm-long brackets are used to tie down the containers, which are also fastened to the floor by hand.
124 x REGS-Type Rail Car
Similar to RGS-type rail cars, this rail car is 60 ft long. In addition, there are 50 cm half-height doors along its sides, making this type of rail car appropriate for transporting pallets and containers because it is much easier to lash and secure cargo.
56 x HIMRS-Type Rail Car
This is a double-door boxcar with a load capacity of 160 m³ and 54 tons. Interior length is 2x12.71 m., while interior width is 2.67 m.
20 x HABFIS-Type Rail car
This is an enclosed boxcar with a loading capacity of 113 m³ and 54 tons. Bumper to bumper length is 27.70 m, while interior width is 2.41 m.
34 x LAAGRS-Type Rail car
This 80' platform rail car can carry 2 x 40' containers. The container locks on the rail car also make it possible to transport 2x30' containers, 4x20' light containers or 2x20' heavy containers.
